This is a preliminary report as we've had the clippers about a week. Having bought other clippers in years past only to have them perform adequately at best when we found yet another dead battery at season start we opted for the best we could find. So far the Gardena unit pleases us. German engineering has a good reputation; this unit upholds it. The blades are sharp and do well even in clumpy grasses. We looked for the spare battery when we opened the package and didn't find one. Apparently the number of batteries you order (via the different model numbers) are built in thus yielding the different operating times in the specifications. So guess how long you would be clipping at one time (without wanting to wait for a recharge) and order accordingly. My 80 model isn't any better for the extra money than the one battery model - just longer at one time. The clip-on wheels (the round thing in the pictures with the white side) are subtly nice in that you don't have to support the weight of the clipper as you work. I've ordered the long handle accessory back ordered at the moment and the wheels will help even more when I'm standing erect and the clipper is at my feet. Will this unit be perky next spring? Too soon to tell but I've no reason to expect otherwise.
